KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a 35-year-old woman today, who gained viral attention in multiple videos, one of which showed her berating fellow police officers.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the arrest was carried out at 1.20am by the Gombak district police headquarters.
He said police have also confiscated a mobile phone to assist in the investigation.
"The suspect will be granted bail after a thorough investigation is conducted, as more police reports have been filed involving the suspect," he said in a statement.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Another report has been filed against the woman by a policeman under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, accusing her of preventing a public servant from carrying out their duties and using rude, disgraceful, or insulting words.
Previously, a woman suspected to be a policewoman sparked outrage after a video of her hurling insulting remarks at policemen went viral.
The incident, believed to have occurred in Gombak, showed the woman raising her voice and asserting that the police officers were unworthy of reprimanding her due to their lower ranks.
Another viral video captured the policewoman engaged in a heated argument at a temple.
The third incident took place at a parking lot. According to the policewoman, the person recording the viral clip shouted at her and called her crazy, despite her only wanting to park her car.
