Police record statement from girlfriend of father who beat up daughter

REMBAU: Police have recorded the statement of the witness who recorded a teenage girl being beaten by her father at a house in Kampung Kendong Baru, Kota, here.

Rembau police chief Deputy Superintendent Hazri Mohamad said the witness who recorded the assault has been identified as the father's 44-year-old girlfriend, who also lives in the same house.

He said she had presented herself at the police station last Tuesday at around 12pm and we have successfully recorded her statement over the incident.

"She told us that she managed to record the assault on her phone but was not at the location when the police arrived at the scene. She is the father's girlfriend who lives together in the same house," he said when contacted, today.

Hazri said the teenager's parents had been divorced since the age of four and she grew up most of her life at her grandmother's place in Rantau, Negri Sembilan," he said.

"The victim who is also the youngest of four siblings only moved in with the father two years ago in 2022," he said.

Earlier it was reported that the 17-year-old had been brutally beaten by the biological father using an iron board, plastic chair and plastic basket. As a result, the victim suffered 12 stitches on the head.

The 47-year-old man is believed to have gone berserk after the victim told his girlfriend that she had been raped by the suspect.
