KANGAR: The Perlis Menteri Besar' son, along with four others, have been released on bail by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
In addition to the MB's son, four other individuals who were detained to assist in investigations related to a case involving false claims amounting to RM600,000 have also been released.
According to sources, all suspects were released on bail of RM10,000 each and are required to report to the MACC office every month.
Last Tuesday, the MACC detained six individuals believed to be involved in the case when they appeared to give statements at the MACC Perlis office.
Following this, all suspects were remanded for two days starting Wednesday, with one of them being released yesterday.
All suspects were detained for suspected involvement in filing false claims related to infrastructure development projects such as repairs, maintenance, supply, and services throughout Perlis since 2022.
Meanwhile, MACC Special Operations Division senior director Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman, when contacted, confirmed the matter.
In addition, the lawyer representing all suspects, Mohd Fadhly Yaacob, said that the MACC is free to recall his clients for further investigation if needed.
"All those detained have been released, one yesterday and five today... so everything is settled for the past three days, concluded today... released on MACC bail. If there is a need to appear at the MACC office for statements, they will attend," he said.
