KUALA LUMPUR: The police are searching for a foreign national and her child following claims of an abduction that have gone viral on social media.
Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the child's father reported the incident yesterday at 4.23pm, stating that his wife, who is a foreigner, had taken away their local child.
"Initial investigations revealed that the couple is still legally married.
"Police are actively working to locate both the mother and child involved.
"We advise the public to refrain from speculating on the incident or sharing unverified information, which could cause unnecessary public concern.
"Any baseless or self-serving statements may cause panic in the community and we advise against such actions," he said in a statement.
