SUNGAI SIPUT: A 38-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a buffalo crossing the road near Salak here last night.
Muhammad Suzairi Junaidi died in the incident at Km40.5 of the Ipoh-Kuala Kangsar Road at about 7.30pm.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin said initial investigation showed the victim, who was riding a Honda RS150r motorcycle, failed to avoid the buffalo which was in the middle of the road.
"When the victim reached the location, his motorcycle hit a buffalo that suddenly crossed the road leaving the victim no time to avoid it, resulting in the collision.
"The road at the time of the incident was rather dark."
The body was taken to Sungai Siput Hospital for a post-mortem.
The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The accident went viral on social media, with reports that the buffalo involved in the collision also died.
