SHAH ALAM: Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos will hold an “ice-cream eating protest” this Wednesday as a sequel to his ongoing crusade against the beer fest in Selangor.
The Malaysian NGOs Coalition chairman said the state secretariat building (SUK) would once again be the venue of his protest.
On Thursday, Jamal held a demonstration before the SUK gates, which saw him wrecking boxes of beer bottles with a sledgehammer after being barred from delivering them to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
“The next protest that I will lead is non-violent. We will protest at the SUK by eating ice-cream. Nothing is going to stop us.
“Although I was handcuffed and locked up because of the previous protest, it has done little to hinder me from opposing any beer festival in Selangor.
“That is my job as the chairman of the Malaysian NGOs Coalition. I am unperturbed by the episode,” he told the New Straits Times.
Jamal said he was glad to have been released on bail along with seven others, at 7pm yesterday (Saturday) from the Shah Alam district police headquarters.
“I am relieved that the investigations were completed swiftly and I was able to be released earlier from the three-day remand.”
