GEORGE TOWN: Two accidents at the Penang Bridge and Second Penang Bridge from the mainland towards the island caused a major traffic jam earlier today.
On the Penang bridge, the accident took place at KM4.8 and this led to a 18km crawl along the North-South Expressway at Sungai Dua from Butterworth.
The congestion started from about 8.15am.
Police is reportedly at the scene to monitor the situation.
Some motorists changed their route and took the Second Bridge instead, another traffic congestion there.
However it was not as severe as the one on the Penang Bridge.
An accident took place earlier at about 8.45am however traffic was clear by 9.30am.
