Sultanah of Kelantan hands over aid to 10 cops

KOTA BARU: Sultanah of Kelantan Che Puan Nur Diana Petra Abdullah today handed over a donation to Kelantan Police Family Association (Perkep) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Clad in a simple baju kurung and headscarf, her Highness Che Puan Nur Diana arrived at the state police headquarters in Jalan Bayam around 4pm.

She was accompanied by Tengku Bendahara, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra.

Welcoming them were Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun and State Perkep chairwoman Suzana Yashin.

Her Highness then spent more than 30 minutes at the event.

Speaking to reporters later, Zaki said the aid was donated by the Yayasan Sultan Kelantan Darul Naim.

He said a total of 10 policemen received the donation.

"On behalf of the recipients, l would like to thank Yayasan Sultan Kelantan Darul Naim for the donation.

"This shows the Kelantan royal family is concerned about the plight suffered by the less fortunate in the state," he said.

He added today's event was the first programme attended by her Highness at the state police headquarters.

Sultan Muhammad V proclaimed his wife, Che Puan Nur Diana Petra Abdullah, the Sultanah of Kelantan effective Aug 2, last year.

The proclamation saw the new Sultanah being bestowed with the title of Her Highness Che Puan Nur Diana.

The proclamation was made in accordance with Clause (1) Article 43 of the Kelantan Constitution (Part Two).

Sultan Muhammad V had also bestowed the title of Her Highness Che Puan Mahkota Kelantan to Che Puan Sofie Louise Johansson Petra, wife of the Tengku Mahkota Kelantan.
