7-vehicle accident leads to congestion at Km256 of the NSE

IPOH: An accident involving seven vehicles on the northbound lane of the North-South Expressway near Kuala Kangsar caused congestion along a 10km stretch for an hour and-a-half.

PLUS Traffic said via Twitter that the accident at Km256.7 of the NSE led to all lanes being blocked for a rescue operation at 5.21pm.

All lanes were reopened to all vehicles at 6.57pm, but traffic remained slow.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Operation spokesperson said it received a distress call at 4.16pm before a team of firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar station rushed to the scene.

He said a man in his 50s was injured after the car he was travelling in crashed into the right side rear of a bus.

"The accident involved six cars and a bus and only one person was injured. The other drivers and people, including the bus passengers escaped unhurt.

"They managed to exit their vehicles before we arrived," said the spokesperson, adding the injured victim was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here for treatment.
