KUALA LUMPUR: A crackdown by the local authority at the Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market today led to the goods in nine premises being seized and action taken against other errant businesses.
A statement on the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Facebook said the operation carried out by its Enforcement Department and Batu Branch's Health and Environment Department was targeted at illegal premises, including those manned by foreigners.
"As a result of this special operation, items were seized at nine premises with foreigners under Section 3(1) of the Trade Licencing Act (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) By-Laws 2016 . DBKL also acted against one case to remove an obstruction under Section 46(1)(d) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.
"All the seized items were taken to the store in Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja Cheras, Kuala Lumpur for recording and documentation," it said.
DBKL issued another two compound offer notices under Section 3(1) Licencing of Trades, Businesses, and Industries By-law (Federal Territor of Kuala Lumpur) 2016 for offences related to business activities without valid licences.
Another three enforcement notices were issued under Section 46(1)(a) of the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974 for erecting structures without permission.
