SUNGAI BULOH: Residents of Bandar Seri Coalfields here are fuming mad, having experienced multiple power outages.
Today, residents lost electricity supply about 6am and it has yet to be restored after eight hours.
One resident, who wanted to be known only as Aruna, said something must be done to solve the problem once and for all.
"I work from home and need a steady Internet connection .
"The power outage forced me to drive out and find a place with Wifi," she said
Aruna said she has been out of the house for more than 8 hours.
Engineer Rozali Md Shamsuddin was baffled as to why Tenaga Nasional Bhd has not found a solution to the problem.
"We've had five power cuts this year and dozens over the years."
He said he was informed that the problem stemmed from a substation malfunction.
He said whenever there's a power outage, he worries about his koi pond.
"I bought a backup battery just so my fish are not affected."
Jayasuria Yahaya, 54, a company director, said when a power cut lasts beyond two hours, TNB should deploy backup generators to the affected areas.
"We lost power at 6am and now its been 8 hours and electricity has not been restored.
"The long power cuts affect everyone: residents, students and businesses."
TNB, in a post on Facebook, said a power failure was affecting several areas in Rawang.
It said the outage was caused by a malfunction at the Coalfield Phase 2C main switch station.
The areas affected included Elmina Green, Elmina West, Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh Country Resort, Desa Coalfield, Bandar Seri Coalfields and Merbau Sempak.
It added that portable generators were being installed in phases to restore electricity supply.
