PARIT BUNTAR: The death of Rosdi Sabli, 35, a person with disabilities whose body was found yesterday, has deeply affected the residents and congregation of Surau Badariah in Parit Abas, Kuala Kurau, here.
Rosdi was a regular at the surau, attending nearly every prayer session and often bringing joy to the community with his cheerful and playful nature.
Anuar Rosli, 38, a local resident, said Rosdi was always seen wearing a cap, smiling and willing to help in any events.
As a mute person, he communicated with his neighbours through sign language, and all of them fondly remembered his lighthearted behaviour.
"Despite being disabled, he always smiled and easily connected with others, even if it was just through sign language. Many understood what he wanted to say and his actions often brightened our day," Anuar said.
"His loss is especially hard for my younger brother, Halil Rosli, 30, who also has a disability (Down syndrome). Rosdi's death feels like the loss of a regular worshipper in congregational prayers," he added.
His funeral was held at Masjid Parit Tok Hin at 2.30pm, with around 200 villagers in attendance.
He was later buried at the mosque cemetery.
Earlier, it was reported that villagers discovered Rosdi's body after seeing flickering lights coming from a drain near the village. He had been missing for several days
Rosdi's body was found at 8pm alongside his motorcycle.
