TANGKAK: Five people were injured in a two-vehicle collision along Jalan Kebun Baru-Bukit Kepong here, last night.
State Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 9.37pm. Personnel from Bukit Gambir and Tangkak stations arrived at the scene within 18 minutes.
Its operation commander, Rahimi Rahmat, said the accident involved a Proton Persona and Saga, with both drivers in their 30s.
The Persona driver, who was alone, was trapped in his vehicle due to the impact, while the Saga driver and his three female passengers (aged 20-50) sustained serious injuries.
All victims received initial treatment at the scene before they were transported to the hospital.
Meanwhile, in Kota Tinggi, a motorcyclist sustained severe injuries after he crashed into a car at KM19 of Jalan Sungai Rengit-Kota Tinggi, this morning.
The 43-year-old was traveling from the Gugusan Adela Felda towards Sungai Rengit, when he collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction.
He suffered multiple fractures, including both arms, legs, two ribs, and the spinal cord. He is reported to be in critical condition at the at the Sultan Ismail Hospital.
The 25-year-old female driver of the car was uninjured.
District police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman who confirmed the incident said investigations under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving are underway.
