Senior citizen's car crashes into supermarket in Taman Sentosa

KLANG: It was a close shave for a senior citizen when the car he was driving veered off the road and crashed into a supermarket in Taman Sentosa, causing property damage on Sunday.

Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said the incident occurred around 4pm when the 73-year-old man lost control of his vehicle while driving along Jalan Dato Yusuf Shahbudin 30, before ploughing into the supermarket.

"The collision damaged the car, several parked motorcycles, and part of the building.

"The car's driver escaped the incident unharmed.

"Police have since launched an investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving," he said in a statement.

Cha also reminded motorists to exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations to prevent accidents that could result in property damage or loss of life.

Witnesses to the incident or those with relevant information should contact the district traffic enforcement and investigation department at 03-33722222.

Earlier, closed-circuit television footage of the incident went viral on social media.
