Nocturnal theft in Kluang: Cash vanishes, 'toyol' suspected

KLUANG: A family in Taman Indah Jaya is baffled and distressed after RM1,550 in savings mysteriously disappeared over two weeks, with the matriarch blaming a 'toyol' (a supernatural creature in Malay superstition).

Norjannah Kassan Kedjoer, 60, recounted how RM700 vanished first, followed by RM500, RM200, and finally RM150.

The money was taken from various hiding spots, including envelopes, ceramic containers, and even a rubbish bin.

"I am certain it's not my family members," said Norjannah, who shares the house with her husband, son, and daughter-in-law.

"I'm meticulous when it comes to money. I know when, where, and how much I've kept."

Her son, Mohamad Amri Haqimmy, 26, echoed her concerns, recalling a similar incident last year when RM1,000 vanished.

However, he said that only his mother's money had been targeted, always disappearing during the night.

"I kept RM2,000 in my room, and nothing happened to it," he said.

Amri even shared their plight on social media, drawing widespread attention and sparking mixed reactions of sympathy and scepticism.

The family is now seeking help from religious practitioners to banish the alleged supernatural entity.

"This might sound absurd, but it's our reality.

"If it's a person, why only take part of the cash? I just want this 'toyol' problem resolved so we can stop living in fear," he said

Until the mystery is solved, the family has implemented a strict rule: No cash is allowed in the house after dark.
