KUALA LUMPUR: A video showing a lorry tyre bouncing across the North-South Expressway near the Sungai Buloh Rest and Recuperation (R&R) area sparked concern among netizens.
The 19-second video, which has gone viral on social media, shows a large tyre that appears to have detached from a heavy vehicle, likely a lorry.
The tyre, still attached to its rim, bounced across the three-lane highway, creating a serious hazard for motorists.
The incident, which allegedly occurred at 8.45pm on Friday, was recorded by TikTok user Nur Zikri, who later shared it on his social media account.
The video has since garnered over a thousand likes and more than a hundred comments, many of which blame poor vehicle maintenance for the incident.
One Tik Toker scuba@azlan who commented on the post said : "The tyre detached due to the laziness of the drivers who don't check their vehicles. All they know is (to) just drive."
Another user, Khaikoyak, suggested that authorities should focus on checking critical vehicle parts like brakes and tyres for safety, rather than focusing on issues like tinted windows and decorative number plates.
Other commenters noted that tyre mishaps seem to be occurring more frequently recently.
