ONE Kesas set to spruce up Klang

ONE Kesas, the latest KM Land Group project, is the first of its kind development in Klang, Selangor.

Instead of developing a 2-in-1 integrated project featuring residential, office tower and mall, which is common among developers, ONE Kesas comprises a wholesale-retail city, education centre and hotel Artisan Eco Hotel.

These components are lacking in Klang, which neighbours Port Klang, a large area that is home to about 95 shipping companies and agents, 300 custom brokers, 25 container storage centres and over 70 freight and transport firms.

ONE Kesas is a joint venture between KM Land and Selangor Industrial Corp Sdn Bhd — a subsidiary of PKNS (Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor), which in turn is wholly owned by Selangor government.

The hub, which is envisioned to meet the lifestyle needs of the Klang community, is scheduled to open in the third quarter of this year.

“Facilities and services in Klang are currently very scattered. It is in need of a single meeting point for all types of amenities and facilities. ONE Kesas will bring the local residential as well as the working community together,” said KM Land chief executive officer Ong Shau Soo.

Ong said with Port Klang forming an important part of the economy in Klang it is clear that it is the center of the wholesale market in Malaysia.

“We want to capitalise on this. We were also inspired by the vibrant and happening culture of Klang as it is a neighbourhood that truly understands the value of bonding relationships. ONE Kesas is a destination for people from all walks of life to come together, whether it is to chill, learn, work or play; to create moments of togetherness,” said Ong.

KM Land recently collaborated with Dynamic Trends Resources Sdn Bhd (DTR), Merccorp Co Ltd, ACE EdVenture and Artisan Eco Hotel to complement the lifestyle hub.

DTR Group and Merccorp will be responsible for bridging the partnership with Southern Entrepreneur Development Association to bring in Thai-made wholesale products via the “One Tambon One Product” (OTOP) programme for retail while retail operations will be overseen by DTR Group and ONE Kesas.

The wholesale-retail city will focus on fast moving consumer goods such as snacks, souvenirs, beauty accessories, cotton products and more. Thailand’s OTOP programme aims to expand its local entrepreneurship to international markets.

KM Land director William Kee said the tagline “Good Times are Created Together”, focuses on the vibrancy, enjoyment and fulfilment of ONE Kesas.
