THERE will be no room for national coach Tan Cheng Hoe to call up players for centralised training in June.
That is because the June international window will likely be used for domestic competitions.
All football activities worldwide, including the M-League, are now suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the M-League could face further delays if the Covid-19 is not contained by May.
Fifa announced recently that all international matches in June have been postponed.
And the world body also specified that clubs do not have to release players for national duty in June while footballers can also decline call-ups.
The government could also impose other restrictions after the Movement Control Order (MCO) is lifted on April 28, and this will further interrupt the scheduling of domestic competitions.
“Fifa have withdrawn the international window in June, so it will now be occupied with domestic matches (if the M-League resumes by then).
“However, we will hold discussions with the Malaysia Football League (MFL) on the domestic calendar," said FAM general-secretary Stuart Ramalingam yesterday.
Stuart, who was involved in a conference call with 10 other general secretaries of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) affiliates, also disclosed that the other member countries have no plans to organise international matches in June.
