No rematch says M6 MLBB committee after 'force majeure' incident

KUALA LUMPUR: The final group match between DianFengYaoGuai's (DFYG) and ULFHEDNAR (ULF) in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championships' Wildcard competition will not be replayed.

The M6 organising committee issued a statement confirming this today.

The match, which ULF went on to win 2-1, was disrupted by a technical issue in the decisive game which affected DFYG and led to the China team submitting an appeal. The match was played at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre in Putrajaya yesterday (Nov 23).

The M6 organising committee said they have investigated the incident and found that it does not warrant a rematch or a remake of the match.

"We have concluded our investigation into match 12 between DFYG and ULF which took place yesterday," said the statement.

"During game three, at 18 minutes and nine seconds, (player) DFYGzzzed experienced a technical problem that led to him briefly losing control of his hero and the hero's death.

"He triggered a Player Pause and reported to the referee that his tournament device had displayed a none-game related pop-up notification which did not allow him to operate the game normally.

"This was verified by the referee and the device was then restored to the tournament state.

"At this point, the M6 organising committee made the call to continue the game without a rematch based on the protocol detailed within the MLBB M6 World Championship 2024 Official Rulebook.

"Based on the above (rules), we have determined that a force majeure event occurred and caused DFYGzzzed to briefly lose control of his hero.

"This event, however, did not meet the relevant requirements to warrant a remake.

"We express sincere regret for the technical issue that occurred during this game and for its impact on DFYGzzzed and DFYG."

The M6 committee added that they have already identified the cause of the issue and have implemented measures to ensure that it does not occur again.

They are also working on a feature to allow matches to be rewinded in future tournaments.
