#SHOWBIZ: Ira Kazar's former sister-in-law apologises to Puteri Sarah Liyana

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Puteri Sarah Liyana, 39, accepted the apology from the former sister-in-law of Ira Kazar, Wiwi Darvinda Mazwena Mazlan, made to her at the Kuala Lumpur Civil Sessions Court, here, today.

According to Harian Metro, the apology was made by Wiwi Darvinda as the defendant to the plaintiff, Puteri Sarah, publicly in front of Judge Yasmin Abdul Razak, as agreed by both parties.

The lawyer representing Puteri Sarah, Datuk Akberdin Abd Kadir, said that the trial of the suit was not continued after there were discussions between the two parties to settle it amicably outside the court.

"We accepted their (defendant's lawyer) offer to settle the case amicably because she (Wiwi Darvinda) has regrets on the matter and my client is okay even though the damages we requested were not continued.

"The case has been resolved amicably. If the case had continued, then we would demand it. However, she (Wiwi Darvinda) has repented and is ready to withdraw all the allegations she made before.

"She will also upload the apology draft that we have prepared on her (Wiwi Darvinda's) Instagram account for seven days starting today. We agreed and can move on," he said when met after the case proceedings.

According to Akberdin, what is most important in the case is that the defendant learns a lesson, she is also sorry and knows she made a mistake and retracts all the allegations she made before.

At the settlement of the case, Wiwi Darvinda was also ordered to pay damages of RM5,000 which includes all costs.

Meanwhile, the lawyer representing Wiwi Darvinda, Ammar Ghalip, said that his client was grateful that the defamation case had been fully resolved today.

"We respect the decision made by the court, and for that my client is very grateful that everything is over. Wiwi Darvinda will also not make any comments.

"The case has been resolved well and we are very grateful," he said when met by the media.

Earlier, Puteri Sarah appeared in court to hear the results of the defamation suit proceedings filed against Wiwi Darvinda as a defendant last year.

On Aug 30 last year, Puteri Sarah filed a defamation suit against Wiwi Darvinda through her lawyer, Akberdin.

The contents of the statement of claim showed that Wiwi Darvinda on Aug 24 of the same year had made inappropriate statements about the popular actress on Instagram.

Following the resulting commotion online caused by her barrage of statements, Wiwi Darvinda reportedly requested to meet with Puteri Sarah after being informed that legal action would be taken against her.

However, the ex-wife of director and actor Syamsul Yusof refused to meet Wiwi Darvinda.
