SELAYANG: A garbage truck driver’s daughter has been awarded with the 2019 Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) best student award under the B40 category.
Nuraini Jalaluddin, 20, from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tun Saban, Pengkalan Hulu in Perak, expressed her gratitude for the award when she scored 5As with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0.
“I can't believe that all of my hard work have paid off well. This award has boosted my spirit to do better in my future education,” she said when met at the STPM 2019 results announcement at the Malaysia Examination Board here today.
She said her father, who is a garbage truck driver for the Pengkalan Hulu district council and her mother who is a housewife, would be proud of her achievement.
“I believe with education, I can one day change my family’s future to a better one. I hope that my father, who has been working as a garbage truck driver for 33 years and will retire next month, can rest and enjoy his retirement,” she said.
Meanwhile, Aimi Mahad who was awarded the best student for 2019 STPM Orang Asli category, hoped to secure her ambition to become a teacher.
“As a teacher, I want to help the Orang Asli children to excel in their studies. I also hope what I have achieved will influence the rest of the Semai tribe to change their lives and their family’s,” said Aimi, who is a Semai from Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
She also scored 5As with a CGPA of 3.84.
