KOTA TINGGI: A Proton Satria driver was killed and his two passengers injured when the car skidded and crashed into a tree at an oil palm plantation in Jalan Sungai Ara Sedili here today.
District Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Ibrahim Wahid said in the 1.32pm incident, the driver was believed to have lost control of the car.
Five firemen were deployed to the scene and tried to free the trio, including the driver who was pinned in the seat.
The car was reduced to wreckage due to the impact of the crash.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two survivors were rushed to a nearby hospital.
In a separate incident, a woman and a man in a Perodua Kancil suffered severe injuries when they crashed into the rear of a lorry along Jalan Mawai Batu 2, near here at 3.32pm today.
Both were rushed to a hospital, while the three-tonne lorry driver was unhurt.
Elsewhere, a lorry driver crashed into a tree along the northbound lane at Km13 of the North-South Expressway near Kulai here, today.
The lorry driver sustained severe injuries in the 3.36pm accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
