JOHOR BARU: Police have classified the case of a man who was rushed to hospital with his throat and stomach slit as attempted suicide.
Johor Baru Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the man was found in front of a restaurant in Taman Suria, here, on Thursday at 10.53pm.
He said the man was believed to be suffering from psychiatric issues and had attempted to take his own life by slitting his throat and disemboweling himself with a knife.
Raub said the 32-year-old man was rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital and doctors were able to save his life.
"The doctors concurred with our preliminary investigations that the victim was found to be of unstable condition and had psychiatric issues. He has been referred to the hospital's psychiatrist," he said.
A 52-second video clip of the man, who was in a drain before climbing out, has gone viral.
