Furniture factories razed in Sungai Buloh

SUNGAI BULOH: Six furniture factories went up in flames at Kampung Baru, Sungai Buloh here today.

A Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said it received a distress call at about 4.48pm and the first team of rescuers arrived at the scene at 5pm to control the fire.

"Preliminary checks showed that the fire spread to at least six factories along the same stretch at an industrial area in Kampung Baru in Sungai Buloh.

"The firefighting operation is led by Senior Operations Commander Muhammad Samad Mohd Noh and assisted by operations commander Shahrul Azlan Erahim," he said.

The spokesman said firefighters and assets from at least four fire and rescue stations including Selayang, Damansara and Rawang were mobilised. The department also deployed its Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team to the scene.

"Fortunately, there were no casualties so far," he said, adding details of the fire are still sketchy as firemen are still trying to douse the flames completely.
