KUALA LUMPUR: After a long hiatus, the singer of popular 1980s tune Stanza Sekeping Hati, Ben Nathan is set to release a new single next month.
The 60-year-old artiste will be releasing a ballad titled Untuk Kebahagiaan Mu, composed by an Indonesian composer.
Yayasan Kebajikan Artis Tanahair (YKAT) president Datuk DJ Dave said RM20,000 fund from the Cultural Economy Development Agency (Cendana) was utilised to produce the single and its music video.
"We received approval from Cendana last year, but due to the pandemic and Ben's health, we had to postpone the recording of this single.
"Now after almost a year, with Ben back in the pink of health again, we've managed to wrap up the recording of the single and now in the midst of making its music video," said Dave in the statement today.
In early 2017, Ben was found living in the street, and it was through YKAT that the singer was brought to a special home in Petaling Jaya where he was cared for by carers as well as his brother Bob who visits him regularly.
"I can see how spirited he is practising for his performance for the launch. He is thrilled at the idea of singing in front of a live audience again.
"I hope with this new single, it'll keep him motivated and that he will be well received by local music listeners again," said Bob.
"Wait for my comeback," the statement briefly quoted Ben.
